I spent four years studying cinematography in college and had the chance to work with professional cinema cameras. Yet, despite owning my own digital camera for snapping stills, I continually find myself taking more pictures with my phone.
There's no denying the convenience- I always have my phone on me. It's lightweight and fits in my pocket, allowing photos to be taken indiscreetly. And for what it's worth, my phone isn't that bad. I've taken some pictures I'm really proud of and have captured moments where I might not have thought to bring my camera.
However, one of my goals is to be better about carrying my camera with me, so that I can lessen my dependence on my phone (and make all the money spent on actual cameras worth it). I hope this is a goal that doesn't fall by the wayside.
